MEMORANDUM
To: All NIADA Members
From: J.D. Wilson, Director of Operations
Subject: Campbell Amendment to the Consumer Financial Protection Agency Bill
Date: October 14, 2009
Dear NIADA Member/Executive Director:
The House of Representatives is about to vote on H.R. 3126, the Consumer Financial Protection Agency Bill and one of its key provisions, known as the Campbell Amendment. The vote could literally come today and the action would be several days ahead of schedule. This legislation contains provisions which dramatically impact regulations covering auto dealerships.
Attached below is a letter prepared by NIADA Legal Counsel Keith Whann which outlines the bill and the key Campbell amendment which exempts dealerships from regulation under this specific legislation. Without the Campbell amendment, NIADA opposes H.R. 3126.
Keith is asking dealers and executive directors of state associations to call their individual congressman or congresswoman today and express support of the amendment. Once you have called your representative, he urges you to sign and email or fax this letter for backup.
Also attached below is a call list with members of the House Committee on Financial Services and their telephone contact information. Please CALL your congressman/woman immediately to voice your opinion.
Would you read this letter AND PLEASE TAKE ACTION IMMEDIATELY to have your voice heard.
Thank you in advance.
J.D. Wilson
